how good PD17 for 360 editing?

I have PD13 and do some video with a GoPro3 and an old Canon camcorder. The 13 is fine for that.

But now I'm turned on to 360 deg video. I see that 17 can edit 360 video. But, how good is PD17 for 360 editing compared to other video editors? I'd like to be loyal to Cyberlink- but if another editor is head and shoulders ahead of PD for 360 editing, I'll get that.

In particular, I really dig "tiny planet" videos. So, should I get PD17 or go elsewhere?

thanks,
Joe

I have no experience with other editors so I can't give you a comparison. maybe other people can add their thoughts.

In the past I've used PD14 (which also has no 360 features) to produce 360 videos, and you just need to use a Spatial Media Metadata Injector (Google has one for YouTube) to have it displayed correctly. PD17 has built-in 360 and equirectangular previews whcih makes it is easy to use, and it has lots of 360 features, like specifying the viewpoint at any/every point for example.

You can easily download the trial version of PD17, although you're limited to importing HD H.264/AVC clips (no 2k/4k) and you can't import any H.265/HEVC clips at all. If your GoPro clips are 2k/4k, you'd have to convert them to HD for testing purposes, but you'd certainly get a real sense for editing.

You can also buy and download the full version to remove those limitations, and you have 30 days to decide if it works for you or get your money back. Hopefully one of these choices will help!
