Usually a edit hack on the srt file. You need to make sure you use a appropriate txt editor, like notepad, and then use save as and typically a UTF-8 encoding file works best so you have no special formatting characters associated with word editors.

If the above does not resolve your issue attach a srt file that produces the error for further resolution.

Most likely a editing error, open your passengers-2016_mod.srt and look at the area were you should have subtitle 9, 10, 11. You will see that you skip 10. You have 9, two blank lines, and then 11:

You might try a real Subtitle editor.

I use one called "Subtitle Edit". It is free open source editor that does just about anything you would want to do to Subtitles.

You can import the SRT fille into Powerdirector's Subtitle Room.

Not knowing what you did to cause the editing error it's difficult for me to know how to fix other than the obvious, don't create manual edit errors. Here is your file with the numbering corrected for the "real" 1206 subtitles vs the previous 1209 with 3 bad areas of formatting, subtitles 10, 661, 662. It looks like you maybe manually tried to delete these 3 subtitles.

Yes, one could do that. PD will simply display "Double click to edit" in the subtitle editor for the empty line subtitle.
