Getting rid of those track info boxes (start time/end time/duration)?

They are nice but I don't need them all the time and they start to get in my way. Is there a possibility to switch them off?

You cannot switch them off, but you can give the video/image a short alias name.

Right click on the item in the PD library and give an Alias.

Never bothers me, I just ignore.
Most of my images from my Canon video camera are only 5 digits and extension, so no long names.
