PD 12 Wont Import Video Files or various formats FIXED!

Hello,
I have the download version of PD12Ultra
Ive just installed and been troubleshooting the program to try and fix my problem which is:

Files: Mov, avi, mp4 wont import in a usable format (or any other formats presumably) They show up in my Library but will not
appear in the editing screen

I am prompted by a message which says: Media Source Error (Error code 2) A Media file in your project may not fully comply with the file format standard or your system may lack the required decoding components for this/these files.

a secondary and possibly related problem is that the Wave Editor2 fails upon being opened.

Troubleshooting procedures:
I tried to allow the program to "build" a Richvideo file
Also I unistalled and reinstalled QTv7
I tried installing K-lite Codec pack which I later removed
eventually I unistalled program/restarted/ran ccleaner v12/restarted/reinstalled only the
intial pack along with the patch : 2412_GM4_Beta_Patch_Patch_VDE131105-02

I have not continued installing the various packs as I was attempting to narrow down the problem. Likely I have left out some important information. Please let me know if/what I have forgotten to mention!

If anyone has any ideas as to how I should further proceed in on this trail of good times that Im now on I would appreciate it.

Thanks
CB

Hi,
The clips have to be on the timeline to edit, drag the clip or clips to timeline 1 and see if that clears up your problem. Also make sure all your drivers are up to date from manufacturers website NOT windows update, make sure you quick time player is up to date also.
Then if that doesn't work run DXDiag and save the results to a text file and attach it here. The members here are volunteers and have a great amount of knowledge on system specs. that may be the problem.

So In the continued saga...

I was trying to edit the files in the timeline.. but when I drag them I recieve the prompt regarding the problem with
file compatiblity.

SO:

I uninstalled QTv7.4 and restarted then installed v7.5

All drivers are up to date as I did this previous to program installation.

Attached is the txt. from DXDiag :

Well after troubleshooting for hours...

As with the car.. always check gas/battery ... I simply ran the program as administrator and Viola!
now the files are usable.
Im still unsure as to why this is the case but its a simple thing so I dont necessarily need to "fix"
this.
Thanks again for the help!
