Modify Audio... nothing happens

When I select a video clip in PowerDirector 10 and select Modify Audio, I believe WaveEditor is supposed to open to allow me to edit the audio. Instead, a dialog box opens that says Extract Audio, and below it shows the path of the .wav audio file with a space that looks like it should contain a bar growing from left to right as the audio is extracted. However, nothing happens. There is a button that says Cancel that allows me to do so.

Wave Editor is installed and operates independently. PowerDirector 365, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor 4.05 GHz, 32GB RAM, Windows 10 64-bit OS, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

Hi JSC

Welcome to the volunteer forum

Wave Editor will only work in PD10 when you place the clip in the timeline.

As you said WE will also work as a stand alone program too. I haven't used this stand alone version as I use Audacity - Google it, it's free

Happy editing

Neil,

Thanks for your reply. I should have specified, the clip I am double-clicking on is already in the timeline. It's definitely some sort of error in the program.

Are you clicking on the Audio part of the video on the timeline?

The top half is video, the bottom half is Audio.

Have you separated the video from the audio in the timeline. I did and it seems to work properly.

Separate the video from the audio, click on the audio to select it and then right click. Select to edit in the wave editor. It takes a pretty long time to extract the audio but eventually the wave editor will open. Do the editing you want (not length though). Close the wav editor, the timline will eventuially appear and the audio will be added. Again it takes some time.

I just went through that and it worked. There may be a better way of doing it but until someone else has a better procedure, this will work. .

Normal is only select the video or audio, and press the button, Edit Audio.
If the audio has already been edited in Wave Editor, you must separate audio video. (Unlik Video end Audio)
For audio only opens WEditor fast for audio video takes longer.

Another note to remember is that if your audio track is long waveditor unfortunately takes an equally long time to first activate and then actually import the audio track. On a 30 minutes clip I've seen over a minute of delay for waveditor to respond. And this is on a fast PC. Win 10, i7
