Hi Ed,
I need some more details off you.
Please attempt to repeat your procedure using the sample files.
What selections are you making and please display as an attachment a screenshot of the content of the Media Library and the Video Tracks.

Guides:

You can not pinpoint the issue BUT you can give more detail of content and provide a visual image as well as a diagnostic of your set up. Please note that 3 (x100kb) images/files can be attached to your reply.

PART B - provide it
PART F - use them
PART E - an alternative
PART D - presentation is important

I recognise the second error message but not the first and I could not replicate the issue you have. More information is needed before I can take this to R&D.

Mat, if you have the identical issue then please follow the above and provide more information.

Hi Dafydd;

Tried re-install and that did not make a difference so assumed it must be a problem with one of the clips.

Tried with one of the sample clips and worked OK

So rendered each of the (4) mini projects and put them back into a new project

Just completed a successful burn! Strange that the clips appeared to cause a problem with the menus?

There were some mp4's which I had not used before, might have been part of the problem as some of them did not seem to behave very well when editing (lot of picture lag in preview playback and reluctance to render) I had to go back to the source file and convert to avi before they would render in PD.

Thanks

Hi Dafyyd, Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled but no change.

1. Open PD application (trial version build 8.00.2220)
2. Click OPEN PROJECT
3. Select my edited movie. (4.4gb, 1.15hrs duration with 9 chapters and many splits with fade ins).
4. click PRODUCE.
5 Select MPEG-2 HQ with 5.2 sound.
6 run The render (about 7 minutes) no problems.
7 click on Create Disc.
8 Select menu preference and choose template 2.
9. Click Burn and select file option, (same error happens for disc burn).
10. Burn starts but after 14 seconds "elapsed time" but 45 seconds real time error message "Burning Unsuccessful"
"Possible causes"
Transcoding engines front end stream error "
"Might be due to:"
"1. Broken or missing source file"
"2. Out of system memory"

Memory used 2.2gb of 3.3gb looking at resource monitor.

11. Start again and repeat 1 to 10 but this time select 'No Menu' Option and hence no chapters, burns fine to file and to disc.

12. Remove chapters from source and run PRODUCE again , select a menu but with no chapters and burn again, success again.

So using chapters causes the failure? or is it really a memory problem caused by adding chapters?

I just built this rig at Xmas to do my videos so please dont tell me I need 64 bit system and another 4 gig!

Just deleted all but one chapter, (the first which I couldn't delete for some reason) and did a produce and burn and again success.
Now I am going to add in one chapter at a time to see at which point it breaks. Vista Ultimate 32bit

Mat,

I suspect you exceed max DVD capacity with your total bunrning file. 1hr and 15min video will seem to have difficulty fitting in. How many Gb does it show at the bottom left corner (in front of 4,700Mb) before you click Burn? Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider.

Hi Andy , it's 4.4 gig. I doubt using chapters adds much to that. Vista Ultimate 32bit

Adding just one additional chapter caused the burn stage to fail again regardless if disc or folder.
Now I can only hope the technical guys can solve the problem. Vista Ultimate 32bit
