I have recently got a GoPro Hero10 and am trying out Powerdirector, having previously used Shotcut for video editing. I'm testing the free version of PD with a view to buying, and I am aware there are some limitations but am having a problem producing acceptable quality video right from the off.
I have loaded a small clip from the GoPro in 4K, 29.97FPS, and on rendering this to HD using the H.264 codec at 1920 x 1080/30p setting, the playback is not at all smooth - it looks like the frame rate has dropped right off. Doing the same in Shotcut as a comparison gives me really smooth downscaled video at 29.97 FPS. Looking at it, it feels like a clash somewhere between the GoPro footage's frame rate and that of PD.
I realise that there are limitations with free version but I'm nervous to go for the full package, and the obvious advantages, until I understand this. The timeline FPS is set to 30. I know that the free version puts a watermark onto the video and I wonder if this could part of the issue.
Machine is not the newest but should be capable - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 16Gb Ram and a 1 TB SSD, with a Geforce GTX 1650 4Gb graphics card, Win10 and latest Geforce drivers.
Thanks so much for any help the community could offer.
