Is there a Comparison of PD 18 Ultimate to new PD Essentials update? It seems like Essentials is an reduced version so that "upgrading" would really be "downgrading"? Opinions appreciated.

No. PD365 is the subscription version, PD20 is the lifetime license version, just like PD18.

The Essenstials version is free and has many significant limitations. It's a major step down from any licensed version.
