Hello,
I recently purchased my first USB web camera, and thought YouCam might enable me to adjust the degree of zoom.
Can it? If so, please advise how.

There is a zoom slider on the left of the Youcam window you can use to digitally zoom. There are also more zoom options in camera settings:
