Is there any way to change a video's background even though I didn't use a green screen?

Hi all- quick question. I recorded video and I need to change the background. Unfortunately, I did not use a green screen. Is there any way to do this? I know you can use masks for stagnant/immobile subjects, but the video has people and moving parts in the forefront so I'm not sure that would work. I need the video hosts to remain in the video, its just the background I need changed. Can someone offer a possible solution? Thanks!

This is all but impossible to do in PowerDirector Ultimate.

High-level programs like Adobe After Effects include a feature called rotoscoping that can separate some backgrounds from foregrounds -- but even with After Effects, the results aren't perfect. That's why even Hollywood pros shoot in front of the a green or blue screen if they're going to swap in a background.

I've used Gimp, transparency, layers, .gifs, and poetic license to get me pretty close to the message intended in the original clip.

A good distraction can cover a multitude of errors.
