Audio Peaking Despite Making Adjustments

As mentioned above, I have a music track that is peaking continuously no matter what methods I take to fix it. I have tried dynamic range compression, gain, etc. And while it no longer shows yellow peaks on the track, it still hits the same part and starts crackling like mad. Does anyone have a solution? It's driving me crazy as I've been working on a video for a long time now and really want to start making serious headway. Any help is appreciated.

It could be that your original music file is overmodulated.

What program did you record it with? If you open it in an audio editor (or the free download Audacity) is the audio peaking beyond green or yellow?

Sorry for the late response. It appears that it may be peaking on Audacity as the audio seems to go up to the red on the top bar. I also needed to install FFMPEG for Audacity, if that might have anything to do with it.

I want to thank you so much for your help! I figured it out via clip fix in Audacity. But I wouldn't have known where to begin without your assistance so much thanks!
