PD 17 - How to get round Explorer?

Hi there.

Apologies. Bit of a novice here.

I went to upload my first video in a fortnight on PD17, and the first sign of trouble was when I had to log in, when I've set it previously to log me in automatically. When I put my log in email in to the field and clicked to submit, it wouldn't take me to the processing screen, with the log in screen becoming a little distorted. I presume this is due to Explorer's winding down before it stops completely?

I tried copying the link from the log in screen in to Chrome and then Edge. However, I then got a screen requesting an authorisation code. There was one which I copied near the foot of the page. However, it asked me to paste it in to PD, but I have no idea, where on PD you have to copy it in to?

I suppose the medium-long term solution is to upgrade to PD21? However, I was wondering if anybody could assist with the hear and now?

Many thanks!

Hi,

This is likely to do with changes in the Youtube/PDR API.

The best immediate solution is to produce your video to your local drive and then upload to youtube through your youtube account.

Recomended upload settings can be found here:

Thank you for your reply. Again, novice experience kicking in, but I'm trying to save the video via PD17 in a different format, so that I can upload directly on to YouTube. However, PD17 is only letting me save files via their own PDS type. Do I need to download file conversion software to change the file format to one which YouTube can download from? Thanks, and sorry for the silly questions.

I think your problem here is when you mention save. This does indeed save the PDS file, this is what keeps track of your changes.

What you want is produce, this renders the video in the format you require.

Hello,

As Philwild mentioned, you don't save the project file, you need to Produce it, which renders your project into a video file. See this help FAQ for a little more info:

https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/98_01_07_convert_pds.html

You will want to use the H.264 format with the .MP4 container. Check our this FAQ for the full details on producing:

https://help.cyberlink.com/stat/help/powerdirector/20/win/enu/98_01_07_produce.html

You can click the Profile Analyzer button in the Produce window for assistance in choosing the correct format:

Yes, sorry, small misunderstanding. I managed to produce then upload it via YouTube yesterday evening, with no difference in quality. Hope the issues can be resolved pretty soon with uploading through PD, though it's not the end of the world.

Thank you to all for your patience and understanding!
