SVRT problem in Powerdirector 8.00.2220

Until recently I used a Sony HDR-SR11.
SVRT in Powerdirector 8.00.2220 worked OK
(H.264 AVC 1920x1080i 25fps - 16.1 Mbps - 16x9 - Audio Dolby 5.1 48kHz 448Kbps)

System spec's:
Windows 7 - 64bit - 8GB Main Memory
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
Intel SSD 80GB sytem drive + other drives
Video : Gigabyte GV-R485MC-1GHATI - Radeon HD 4850 - 1GB GDDR3

Now I have upgraded to a Sony HDR-CX520 and all at once SVRT does not work anymore - although the video specs are the same. So there seems to be a compatibility issue

Any advice ?

Thanks

A very interesting post.

I see you've added your camera details - remember to add your system spec as well please.

I'll send you an PM of how to upload a sample video - 10 seconds long in a minute. I think R&D would be interested to check this out.

Update.

I have received the test file Huib uploaded. I confirm what Huib found. The issue is now being referred to R&D for further investigation.

ALL
Sample files from all cameras enable R&D to check the production spec of your cameras in the software.

Add your camera details, participate in making sure your camera works in future builds of PD.

Hello Dafydd,

I have a similar issue with my Canon Vixia HF200 HD camcorder. None of the clips taken with the camera is OK for svrt to turn to green. Tha analysis says coding parameters differ which I suppose is the same issue reported over here at this forum with PD and Canon AVCHDs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD

"
Compatibility between brands

The implementation of H.264/AVC codec varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Canon and Panasonic camcorders use High-Profile@Level-4.1, up to the AVCHD format's maximum bitrate of 24 Mbit/s. The maximum rate of Panasonic HDC-HS300 in its highest HA recording mode is 17Mbit/s. To date, Sony camcorders have only used Main-Profile@Level-4.0, at a maximum bitrate of 17 Mbit/s. The High-Profile mode of H264 is more difficult to create and play back than main-profile. Consequently, recordings made by one vendor's camcorder or editing software may be unplayable on another vendor's equipment, leading to a frustrating user experience.

It is becoming apparent that there is also incompatibility within the Panasonic brand. Panasonic's latest version of the HDwriter AE (Version 1.5 - in spite of the existence of a Version 2.5) will not recognise AVCHD video from earlier camcorders (such as the HDC-SD1/5/7/9 series).
"

May I post a sample clip for RnD to investigate this issue please?

Kind regards

/z

Hello Dafydd,

Thanks for the quick replies regarding SVRT-Canon issues. I'm excited about the fix in advance

In the meantime may I ask something related to AVCHD to DVD burning? It may have some common with SVRT anyway.

Hence I have a set of footages shot in say XP+ mode on my Canon HF200. XP+ is equivalent to (afair) 12Mbps variable bitrate 1440x1080.
If I put such a clip to the timeline and click on burn AVCHD to DVD where can I set the target bitrate so it matches with the 12Mbps setting of the clip and of the factory default of the camera?

In other words: the default for AVCHD-on-DVD in PD8 is 15Mbps from what I have seen so far. But as there is no such a setting in Canon HF200 that would set the bitrate to 15 how about svrt anyway? Do svrt takes the target default settings for AVCHD2DVD (that is 15mbps) and converts all my clips to 15Mpbs from say 12 every time?

If I could set the target bitrate for AVCHD-DVD so that it matches with any of my camera presets, I could shoot a dozen clips with the same bitrate, set (or select) the same bitrate in PD8 and all the clips could have been burnt to DVD without any conversion.

How is this supposed to work in PD(?

Many thanks

/z

Hi Dafydd. EDITED

You mentioned that the next patch, which should be out very soon, fixes the svrt issue for the Sony HDR CX520

Is the 2220c patch the one you were talking about?
If so then I am afraid the svrt problem is not solved yet in this patch.
Or is there another patch coming

Hi Im new here.

I have a Canon HF S11 making full HD avchd files where im unable to choose the SVRT in the settings, but reading this thread i can see this is a bug, with a patch coming to fix.

I can supply the mediainfo for the files i record, and can also upload a clip if needed

original File
Video
ID : 4113 (0x1011)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L4.0
Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames
Duration : 1mn 6s
Bit rate : 22.7 Mbps
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Resolution : 8 bits
Colorimetry : 4:2:0
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.438
Stream size : 179 MiB (94%)

File after created in Powerdirector 8 standard setting:
Video
ID : 4113 (0x1011)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L4.0
Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames
Duration : 5mn 16s
Bit rate : 13.6 Mbps
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Resolution : 8 bits
Colorimetry : 4:2:0
Scan type : MBAFF
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.263
Stream size : 515 MiB (91%)

I was wondering why the original was interlaced, and after powerdirector its MBAFF(??) what is that is that another word for interlaced?

where will the patch for getting the svrt be uploaded? Best regards
René
