PD8 is supposed to Import MP4 Right??

I have an MP4 video file that plays just fine in VLC Player - but will not import into PD8 Deluxe - Build 8.00.1930. Error message displayed is "An error occurred when opening this media file in the Media Library".

Before I waste a lot of time upgrading my system, can anyone else get the attached file to import using 2200 (or 1930 for that matter).

The attach function on this forum isn't working for me, so the test files can be found here - http://www.afrotude.com/pd8/mp4.zip

The file contains a small mp4 file with the AVI extension and the dxdiag output from my system

Thanks

Interesting. The update on the site is the original 2220 - not "c". How did you get "c"?

2220c was an intermediate "patch" released to test a fix for a few issues :-

Installing ffdshow often cures a few codec problems and doesn't seem to cause any problems, worth a try?

I think your problem might be resolved with installing Divx, based on your dxdiag. It looks like your avi file is a compressed mpeg4, divx works good to decode this and IS NOT installed with PD7 or PD8. It was with PD6. Refer to Dafydd Part Q instructions copied again here.

----------
PART Q
Mpeg4 compressed files. Now install DivX
PD7 does not come with the DivX installation package, while PD6 did. What you need to do is download and install DivX

http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/
Once installed it will be available from within PD7.
Video editors need to carry out this task if you edit compressed files with the avi extension

and when you do... be sure to uncheck the Norton Security Scan installation - very naughty.
