m2v and wav files

I have a bunch of m2v files with their associated wav files, but PowerDirector 8 won't let me import the m2v files. I've tried bringing the m2v and wav files together into Windows Movie Maker, but they are not synched. If I just bring the m2v file into WMM and saving it as somthing else, it seems I lose some quality (given the resulting file is smaller).

How can I deal with these m2v and wave files so I can output a high quality DVD or Blu-Ray?

Thank you.

I suggest you experiment with a conversion program. Free one, such as Super should help.

Jeff -

On this page http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-de-multiplexers there are some tools listed that might suit your purposes.

The limits of my knowledge about these files is that m2v files are demultiplexed (demuxed to its friends) from mpeg2... so - in order to use the files - they need to be muxed again. I've never done this, nor used any of the tools on that site... just thought it might be useful for you.

Cheers - Tony

Thank you both for your replies. I ended up using Streamclip to convert the .m2v to .avi, then brought the resulting .avi and its associated wav file into PD to combine them.

I tried using TMPEG's mpeg tools to multiplex them both together, but it wouldn't accept the wav, for some reason. TMPEG's mpeg tools will accept the m2v file and turn it into an mpeg, but you'd need to buy TMPEG Plus. Streamclip is a free solution.

Thanks again for your help.
