Hi,

PDVD9 will freeze everything, screen, keyboard etc except mouse everytime it is launched. It takes about 10 seconds. Close the program and launch again still the same.

Earlier i thought PDVD is looking for internet connection, I disable network connection the freeze still happens.

I don't remember this happens in Win7 32bits. CPU......: i7-975, evga x58 Classified, Kingston 2000 1Gbx3

Hdd......: x25M 80Gb x3, iRAM 4Gb
Sound...: Auzentech HTHD, Psyko 5.1, Razer HP1 5.1, Onkyo TX-SR876 AVR

I have exactly the same issue with Windows 7 64bit. If I remove and reinstall everything is fine--for a while. Are you using any codec packs? I'm using Sharky Win7codecs.

Similar problem on my machine with Windows7 Ultimate x 64 bit,
Following an install of PDVD9 Ultra all seems to work until I have to restart my PC, then PDVD9 Ultra will not start at all.
The only way around is to uninstall/reinstall PDV9 Ultra, but of course once I power off/Power on same problem.
"Tech Boys" are still working on it.

ok now I am with Win7 32bits, and PDVD9 is working normally. About the freezing issue, it seems like we need to fill in and send the register form when PDVD9 prompts for it (although we have registered, need to do it again). Not very sure if this is the absolute reason.

I will stay with 32bits for a while, h.264 64bits and spdif out in MPC home cinema not yet ok for win7 x64. PDVD9 is just too poor in playing movie file that I have to look for other alternative. Further more i really did not see many programs that can benefit from x64 at the moment. >4Gb ram is not an issue, i won't use more than 2 Gb.

Hi All

Just an update on whats happened so far.
I have tried registering following an install but it made no difference.
Have spoken again to the CyberLink "Tech" guys who have informed me that they are aware of the problem and it has been escalated to the R & D dept who tell me that there is a new patch due out in their words "next week" so watch this space.
Regards to you all

Well, new user Jan 1, 2010. I'm on Win7 x64 (12gigs of ram, so no way I'm going to the 32 bit version), ATI 5870, LG Blu-ray read writer. I purchased the full version of Power DVD 9 Ultra because the freeware with the drive would not install.

It runs, but like you all, I get a total screen freeze (all screens, I run 3) for about 10 seconds or so on startup, and another one on shutdown of the product. Movies play fine for the most part. Occasionally on True HD tracks the center speaker is missing, but if I switch to another track and switch back it's fine.

What I notice is playback is fine, but it seems to be an issue of screen freeze when it's changing screen modes (going to full screen, going to cinema mode, etc.)

Using latest ATI Catalyst 9.12 hotfix drivers.

It also seems to freeze when starting up in the Media Center mode.

It's not life ending (it works), but it's very disruptive to an OS experience that is, otherwise, pretty seamless and fast.

Hi,
I have the same issue, Win 7 64, ATI 4890 (Catalyst 9.12). I freeze at starting for 10 seconds, and then it is OK.

Dunno what is the reason of it. I cannot monitor task manager. Only mouse is available. All the system is freezed. Can it be the AV (I use Bitdefender 2010).

Any news on this issue? I have the same problem. Works fine on a Win7-32 bit install but I get the 5-10sec hang on the 64 install.
