no editoring screen in timeline or storyboard view

I have PD 8 version 1930, and camera JVC GZ HD 300 and use Everio media Browser HD to transfer files from camera to PC, which finishes as MTS files in My Documents. When I am editoring in PD in both timeline or stoaryboard view the small screen on the right does not show any of the video,but before dragging the file down to edit, it does. Audio works fine.When one burns to disk it is all there.Without the small screen you cannot edit. HELP. Graeme

Assuming that you have the full version of PDR8, update to build 2220

Does the waveform show in your timeline?
Do you have Shadow Edit File creation turned on or off?
If turned on, are you allowing sufficient time for the shadow edit files to be created, orange icon turns green, also try turning it off.
