Newbie to PD 365 - Template repeats photos 3+ times during playback

Hi All,

I'm a new user of PD 365 and have tried running a "test" version of one of the slide show templates (Reflections) to run through the entire project from start to finish. Process went as expected. However, when I run the produced slide show, photos show up repeatedly throughout the video. After seeing same photo 3-4 times, it gets a little old.

I'm wondering if templates require a certain number of photos to render a project, and if short, they start reusing pictures? Is there a way to identify how many "slots" require a photo?

The potential seems amazing with PD and the massive available resources. Hoping to get off to a good start and understanding the program processes.

Thank you in advance. David

Apparently there is no one willing to respond to newbie.
Is there a way I can remove my posts at will?

No, posts can't be removed by creator. You could edit I guess remove all the text if that makes you happy. I don't believe lack of response is because of a newbie, many on the forum that do respond to many threads may just not use the SlideShow feature much. Many of these canned features always have issue is my experience, I gave up on them years ago, you can see a peculiar slideshow issue here https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29091.page#post_box_159330 that makes no sense. Fitting to music and such has had its share of issues too and discussed in the forums. For your particular issue, I'm thinking you can use the "Customize" button and correct the shortcomings manually that you notice.

So I created 10 pics numbered 1-10. The resulting pattern with Reflections is
2,1,3,2,4,3,5,4,6,5,7,6,8,7,9,8,10,9,1,10,2
Maybe that's what they mean be reflection, who knows. You can see the reflective type pattern I guess, Basically they encase pics 1,3 between pic 2, then 3,5 between pic 4, 5,7 between pic 6. So basically take the 2,1,3,2 pic pattern and add 2 to each pic number for the next pattern of 4 pics. I tested with 25 pics numbered 1-25 and it appears the same basic pattern repeats. So yes, maybe by design you have lots of repeats.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for the response. I was a bit disappointed when I checked back and there were no responses. I do, however, COMPLETELY understand your response about the templates. After experiencing many of the issues you have mentioned, I have had very little success working with a couple different templates and can really relate to all of the extra "work" just to get it to show as desired. For the record, I've deleted and restarted my first project three times so far trying different templates. It is much easier, at least it seems so, to just manually set up the movement and music cue's.

I came from using Adobe Premier Pro--to Xara/Magix--to Corel Video Studio. Obviously Corel wasn't designed to offer as much film manipulation as Premier and Magix. Definitely more of a out of the box consumer product. I am extremely excited about many of the settings and options that I was missing and now have found in PowerDirector at a great price. Thanks again for the information.
