Can't upgrade the OE version...

Just me, or dumb programmers? HP laptop had Powerlink DVD v14. Tried to update it, registered on the website and downloaded the file. Ran the file and it said "Older version found, needs to be uninstalled". So I let it uninstall it, then it said "can't find any qualifying products for upgrade"....

So.... did I get screwed by an idiot programmer, or am I missing something?

You can always use a backup of the hard drive that you previously created if you have one to restore it. You can also use the recovery partition to restore it. Be sure to read the instructions on the HP website so you understand it before doing the restore. You should also contact HP and report what you did so they can disallow other users to incorrectly download it from their website.
