Proposal: Be able to Cancel "Analyse SVRT"

Hi!

I've been using PD for many years starting at version 9 and now working mostly in PD 16.
I have installed different versions/trials over the years to see if there are any valuable an important improvements.

As I mostly work with basic editing with lots of clips, somtimes in older and different formats, I use basic functionality such as SVRT quite a lot. After having a look at the latest version I still thing it needs improvements.

- I wish there was an option in the Analyse SVRT popup window to "Cancel" a SVRT-session that has started for the SVRT Track:
It starts automatically and if it after 10 minutes has reached 10 %, maybe you want to kill if you don't have the time or patiance to wait for it to finish.
The only thing to now is to wait for another 30-50 minutes for it to complete, or kill the application and start up the project again.

- It also seems to me that the updated SVRT Track is NOT saved when saving the project, but I may be misstaken here. So I'll try again to see what happens.

- I also wish there was an option to select a clip in the Edit window and perform SVRT on that clip only, instead of all clips in the project.
That would make it possible to find a suitable/possible preset much quicker for the clip type that is most common in the project.

Until then I think I will stay with my current version...

I agree with you, it would be good to be able to abort the analyse SVRT. I cannot help thinking: why does it take your system so long? Would it be possible to break up the project into smaller more digestable shunks? Being able to select a clip for analyses would already help, of course.
Suggest that you use the: "rate us & provide suggestions" in the file menu to forward your suggestions. (Although: I have seen many suggestions passed through from this forum, but have the impression that CL has other priorities...

The state of the SVRT track isn't saved with the project, and you have to manually enable it each time you start PD.

I just tried opening a multi-track project with a dozen source clips and 100+ timeline clips and it took under 15 seconds to run SVRT on my very fast machine. However, it takes well over a minute (4-5x longer) if I've opened an older project and PD is trying to generate continuous thumbnails. You may want to disable that feature or wait until all the thumbnails have been created before bringing up the SVRT track.

Also, you can copy an individual clip or section of your project then use File | New Workspace to clear the timeline and place only that section there. When the SVRT track is re-enabled, you should see the results almost immediately.

Hi!

Thank you for the replies.

Yes optodata, I have tried using single clip just to see any SVRT proposals and that works okay.
But it's when I want to see the SVRT track for the whole project it takes too much time.

And for simplicity I also wish it would be possible to just right click on a single clip in the timeline and choose an option for SVRT Analyse to see if it finds any possible setting for just that specific clip. Instead of having to open new project/workspace.

And some other strange things:

- If I make the SVRT track open in Edit page, get a proposed preset that seems to work, and then go to Produce page the SVRT information doesn't find the same proposed setting. I get no possible SVRT setting.

- And if I try to manually edit SVRT settings using the same configuration that works in PD16 for my files, it doesn't work in PD20.

So something is a little bit strange here.
But I will continue try this a little bit more.

You should report this to Cyberlink tech support directly. Make sure you include a link to this forum discussion so they can see all the information here.

You may also find that using the Profile Analyzer on the Produce page will give better results. A result from the Best Matched format tab is usually a good choice overall, and any profiles listed there or on the Intelligent SVRT tab will be made permanent and saved to the Config.ini file when you choose to produce to one of them.
