Hi,

Can PD 19 Ultimate crop video with user defined shape? Instead of getting a rectangular shape, I need to crop a video to the shape like the attached screenshot (uneven.jpg)

The reason I need such shape becasue we need to add a person (who is extracted from a video with green background by using PD 19 Chroma Key tool) into a picture. There is a coffee table in this picture, when adding that person behind the coffee table, the bottom of the extacted person cuts in the table (see green circle in the attached screenshot table_leg.jpg). We can fix this problem if we can crop video to make its bottom tilt.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The quick answer is no. All crops have straight edges and 90° angles, although the height and width can be locked to the existing aspect ratio or set to freeform.

The easiest way to do what you want would be to crop then add a mask to remove the undesired content. Masks can be in any shape and can even be drawn by brush (using a mouse or a finger/pen on touchscreen devices)

Thank you for the information. It perfectly works for what I need.

I created a mask with "Create a customer selection mask" function (see mask1.jpg). mask2.jpg shows the final effect, which corrects the problem I had before.

One more question on mask... would it be possible to apply a mask to only a section of video (instead of apply mask to the whole video)? The reason for this question is that object in the video may move a bit, so a mask fits one section of the video may not fit the rest sections.

Any mask is applied to the entire clip, so you can simply split the clip and remove/change the mask as needed in the following clips.

If you're wanting to cover some slight motion of the camera, it's better to use mask keyframes and adjust them as needed to keep the masked area covered smoothly.
