Hello,

I posted a video on YouTube using music I downloaded from Cyberlinks library. It came back "Copyright Claim"

Copyright owner's policy Monetized in some territories. Content found during 0:00 – 1:44 Copyright owners: Source Audio Holdings LLC On behalf of: Underground Music.

"My Smiley FaceAmotz Plessner Andy Muson"

I'm unclear if Cyberlinks music is ok to use without a copyright issue? Is the claim accurate, or should I dispute it?

Video here: https://youtu.be/kCD2Vi1Bx3I

Thanks, Scott

Searching gives me almost 900 results taking up 26 pages. Maybe this one will help more.

The bottom line is that all content from Cyberlink and Shutterstock is properly licensed for users to use in their videos. However, YouTube's flagging algorthim is pretty aggressive and you will need to dispute the claim each time YT notifies you.

It does sound like maybe an instrumental version of Don’t Worry Be Happy. Google search of "My Smiley FaceAmotz Plessner Andy Muson" gives an artist of that name working with smartsound but not the song.

Hi mramish123 -

tomasc is right. It is a SmartSound track, titled "Bright Sunshine" from the "Goofy, Silly Sweet" album... though it's not much like "Don't Worry - Be Happy". The whistling has a similar feel. laughing

It's also possible it's included in the background music for PDR365. I'm not sure whether you have purchased the track/album from SmartSound. Yes? No? or where you found the track in PDR?

Either way, you can dispute the copyright claim on YouTube by showing how you accessed it... either SmartSound purchase or via PDR365.

Cheers - Tony

G'day Scott -

It is! I should have checked before I signed off. embarassed In PDR365, "Bright Sunshine" is part of the MegaMix pack.

Checking back through emails confirmed that it was flagged by YouTube when I uploaded it last year.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, it doesn't take long for YouTube to release the claim once you dispute it.

Cheers - Tony

As far as I know in previous news, YouTubers in the past have been sued by some record companies for millions of dollars for unauthorized use of music. Royalty free may not be copyright free as the company still wants to ensure that the use of their music is paid for by the user. Even smartsound music is flagged as the company wants to ensure that music came from a video editor that has been paid for and not from a pirated source. See this article: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2014/07/18/ultra-what-even/ . I believe that filing a dispute is standard business as the company just wants to know who is using the music and if the few cents or dollars have been paid up front like in PD365.
