Is your PowerDVD a Retail product or bundles with HW?
I had 7.3 BD HDDVD OEM from LG. Because Cyberlink kept failing to bring out patches for the OEM versions and I went months without being able to play anything, customer service finally gave me a full retail PDVD8 Ultra copy which is what I'm using. I had used it fine with XP for a few months ... I then upgraded to Windows 7. Cyberlinks own site says it supports it ... and when I ran Cyberlinks own compatibility checker on this version on my W7 machine ... it said all was fine.

The detailed issue description
You have it already. I will add that I applied the latest PDVD update. Now nothing happens when you try to launch the program.
Also ... as in common with others on various forums ... when installing the base PDVD8 Ultra I was given under W7, I get a NIS alert saying I have a cldabcd.dll (Backdoor.Graybird) virus ... apparently fairly nasty. And it is in the videofilter PDVD directory ... It has been blocked.
Perhaps this is related to the problem.
I have removed all versions and reinstalled the original ... and I still get the 'Colour Scheme has changed' W7 notification suggesting some s/w had compatilbility issues ... followed by the Cyberlink 80040154 error ... and then nothing ... for all HD DVDs. Blu Ray sometimes gets to the initial splash and then crashes.
Cheers
Paul.
