Earlier clips playing instead of later ones

For example:

I have a clip right at the beginning of my project that's 12 seconds long. The other clips start 10s but these are placed before i.e. higher up than the the beginning clip. Powerdirector has always played the later (bottom) clips over the earlier (higher) ones. Only now for reason that isn't the case. Its as if there's an inverted mask covering the later clip as soon as the earlier ones start.

I've checked everything I can think of. There is no mask, no transparency. What am I missing? What else could I check. I closed PD and restarted but its still there. Any help please.

Hi,
It might be useful to attach an image of your timeline for members to view.

Cheers

By any chance do you have the timeline track order reversed?

No. You can see that in the screenshot too. Also that doesn't make a difference, clips higher up numerically should always play on top of lower.

I managed to get a workaround by exporting A-E as one file and then the rest as another file and then importing those files into a new project. Then it worked the way it should. Still looking for a fix for this though.

I must have bumped the track numbers off the left edge of my screen when I enlarged your screenshot as I didn't see them when I posted. What you're describing is very strange and the only other thing I can think of is that there might have been a cached version of the timeline that was interfering with the actual content.

Had you previously used the Render Preview tool or had the preview resolution set to Ultra HD Resolution? If so, you could click on Preferences > General > Manually Delete the temp files and make sure all the files in use for the current project are deleted.

If that's not the case, I think it would be really helpful if you could share an earlier version of the project from when you took the screenshot.

If you have auto save turned on (under Preferences > Project), you should be able to recover the project from that point and then use File > Pack Project Materials... to save a copy of the project to OneDrive or Google Drive. Paste a publicly shareable link to it here so other people can see exactly what's going on.

See this FAQ for more details.

I'll have a look at that. Thanks.

Not keen on sharing a project here.

That's completely understandable. You may want to consider sharing the project privately with CL tech support as they would likely need to have access to the actual project to diagnose the issue.

Another option would be to see if you could replace the original clips with other clips with unrelated content. As long as the new clips are at least as long as the originals, you can import them into the Media Library then drag them one at a time onto each timeline clip and choose the Replace option.

If the previewing issue is still present, pack that project and share it with tech support and/or the forum.
