When I try to register PowerDVD9 on my Vista home premium 64 bit. I get the following error: Your activation key is incorrect. Please try again. (0x80ab0005).

I have read the forums and as far as i could spot the only real advice other than my version of the software not being 64 bit friendly is to ad "203.73.94.101 activation.gocyberlink.com" to the host file. which i've done.

Please help. This is very frustrating having problems like this with original software.

Hi Andre,

If this is original software, I would highly suggest that you contact Cyberlink support throught the member site.

As it is a serial problem, I would suggest just double-checking certain characters.

This type of problem could be seen with an illegal serial for example from a key generator, which obviously Cyberlink will provide no support or assistance.

Sorry unable to assist further.

Also, this has nothing to do with your OS being x64, I have installed all PowerDVD from v7+ on x64 OS's and had no problems with any of them.

Thanks for the comment. The numbers have been checked and rechecked. All original software and the serial number is printed on the packaging. I will take your advice and contact support.

Thanks

Good luck with support., I have the same issues activating PowerDVD 10 and though I opend a problem over a week ago, I still have no solution. They sent me a new key and it fails in the exact same manner. Other problems I have open received no response of any kind, just completely ignored.

I've gone with a different package and recommend all my collogues and friends to look for alternative packages too. Much better products out there with much better support.

What other solutions are people going to on 64 bit Windows 7. I have had enough with the incredibly weak support and all the product bugs. I need a Blu-Ray solution athat also has DVD upscaling. Media center plug in is a minor plus.
