"Return to beginning of video after preview" is already selected so that is not the problem. Having adjusted a clip somewhere on the timeline, if I want to see how it looks from the very beginning of the movie there is no way to do that. Or is there?
In the first linked post, you can see that for some people, the behavior of the playhead when the Stop button is clicked is dependent on whether a clip is selected or not; on my systems only "movie mode" is present regardles of whether or not I have selected a clip. In your case as long as no clip is selected when you start previewing, clicking Stop will return the playhead to the beginning of the timeline.

What happened to the dustbin? To get rid of a clip/transition anything that is not to my liking I can just drag it to the dustbin. Not now, why?

In the pip designer I can not manually adjust any picture without altering its aspect ratio. Why?
This looks like a bug. Of the 4 ways to change the size of the clip: typing a value on the Width or Height control; using the Width or Height slider; dragging a corner handle of the frame in the designer's preview window; and dragging a horizontal or vertical handle in the designer's preview window, only the last one doesn't respect the
Maintain aspect ratio setting.
I think that needs to be addressed, unless CL decided that users should be able to override that control by intentionally dragging a side rather than a corner. I could understand that but it should have been explained if that was the goal.
Fortunately there are still three options available to keep the aspect ratio when resizing content.
