I have some (almost) static landscape footage where suddenly an insect crosses the scene, just a few frames. Is there an easy way to mask this unwanted flying object and replace it with the scenebackground? Recware: DJI Osmo Pocket, GoproHero7Black, PanasonicFZ300/HCX909, Sony PXW-X160.
Software: Vegaspro365+Vegasaur/PowerDirector365
Hardware: i910900k,32GB,GTX2080s, 1920x1200 display
Playware: Samsung Qled QE65Q6FN, Philips 55PFL7108

There are many ways to do that, but there's no way to know which approach is better without seeing specific details of your clip, like motion and background content.

If your background is fully stationary for the segment where the bug is in view, you can make a screenshot of the frame just before/after it's gone and place that on the track below your main clip, trimmed to the length you want to block.

Next, mask the screenshot so that only the section you want to mask out is visible, and maybe feather the edges so there aren't any hard edges if the view shifts slightly.

If your background is moving noticeably during those few seconds, you might want to try the Boris Remover FX and see if you can find a similar area to paste over the bug as it flies past. You might have to use individual keyframes to match the exact content.

You might not have a matching area to copy from in the same frame, so you'd need to find another section of the clip that matches the background motion of the problem area, and follow the steps in the first suggestion except using a video clip. You can shift or zoom the masking clip using keyframes if needed to exactly line up the two clips.

You can also decide to simply ignore the insect and leave your video as-is

Thanks for your suggestions. As the bug was just crossing the scene for 5 frames (4k50 Osmo Pocket recording), I solved the issue by cutting out those 5 frames and due to the relative static background I don't see any glitch.

Where could I get Boris Remover Fx for PD18? Recware: DJI Osmo Pocket, GoproHero7Black, PanasonicFZ300/HCX909, Sony PXW-X160.

I'm glad you found a simple solution!

The FX comes as part of the 365 subscription, and with both PD18 and 365 sharing the same forum I didn't know which version you had.

BCC Remover is apparently part of their Continuum collection, and I assume you'd need the OFX version for Windows hosts (free trial download here).

Once you check the pricing, I'm sure you''ll see that subscribing to PD365 is a very good deal, although you won't get all the modules. PD365 includes 8 FX from the Image Restoration module: Beauty Studio, Dust and Scratches, DV Fixer, Lens Correction, Magic Sharp, Pixel Fixer, Remover and Wire Remover.

It also includes FX from Film Style (6), Lights (15) and Stylize (17).
