Quote ... going to do a format and a fresh install of Windows 10 on wednesday. When that is done I will have to see if this solves my issues. ...

your w7 is fine.
i don't know if you can still get a free upgrade to wX???

what i would do is clone the hard drive then with cloned w7 go to Here's how you can still get a free Windows 10 upgrade from zdnet. upgrade to wX for free! ^^ this way your will have w7 and wX like me.

looking at your DxDiag you still got some steam to do 4K. do not read between lines or read too fast. look at my signature block and you'll see my comps(computers). it's old as yours or older. GTX 760 is happy with nVidia drivers versions in 35x.xx or less. these drivers you can try at GTX960 Performance Comparisons . in the middle of TonyL is the blue underlined click here for the data sheet. look at the driver versions... yes, i had GTX 750Ti(well it's collecting dust right now).

your C drive needs more room. try and vacate much as you can to have more than 100GB space.

didn't you say that you have PD14??? if you do open a new thread in the Forum Index » PowerDirector (previous versions. we can start fresh.

k.
i had to use the FFMPEG like Tomasc to correct PD's aspect ratio of 16:9 to 2.39:1 for YT. ^^

p.s.
why don't you make VirtualDub tutorials and upload to your YT channel so dummies like us can learn from it?
sorry, i went to public school... ^^

Hi.

My computer guy can install Wx for me. I also have customer that wants me to get Wx. I have implemented ISO 27001 (data security) for him. So I can not really work for him with an operating system that is no longer supported .

I have already spent quite some time freeing up space on my data drive (F. Before Wednesday I will clean up my C: drive.

I did have PD14 and in an earlier post I said I was contemplating getting PD18. In the meantime I went ahead and got it anyway.

If Wednesday evening no "happy happy joy joy" this old pc will be retiring and I will have to get me a new machine. I no longer want a desktop because I travell regularly. At the moment I use an old banger of a laptop of my client. If I really need to replace my pc I am getting a laptop to be more flexible. I will then also get a docking station so I can hook it up to my monitors at home.

Thanks for the advice. If the new situation is there (either a working desktop or a new laptop) I will open a new thread.

Have a good weekend and stay healthy.

Quote ... will have to get me a new machine. ... Have a good weekend and stay healthy.

well, last year on my b-day i got a new desktop. Ryzen 7 2700X twice as faster than FX 8370E.

my Ryzen 7 2700X is running windows 7 and 10. ^^
my FX 8370E is dual boot, too. w7 and wX.
my dell xps laptop is 9 years old and still going strong. also it's dual boot w7 and wX. ^^
and best of all it's all free upgrades to Windows 10 Enterprise OS.

as i said before your i7-3700 is more than enough to run. just takes little patience. my tutorials are easy to follow. i've done all the hard work for you. ^^

how to desqueeze decompress 1.33x Anamorphic with PowerDirector & change Aspect Ratio with FFmpegYAG: https://youtu.be/5_KaNmxTyyM

uploading to YT, it came out as 16:9 so i've corrected PD14's 16:9 AR to 2.39:1 AR using FFMPEG!

must troubleshoot why you're having the Production unsuccessful error messages...

thanks. i'll try to stay away from the Covid-19. ^^
take care.

i forgot all about it. your GTX 760(2013?) does not support H.265 HEVC files. you must disable all HA!

GTX950 > will support H.265 HEVC.

if you convert the H.265 to H.264 and nVidia drivers version less than 35x.xx you might get HA but it'll be a slim chance because PD18 was written 2019. i use RockyMountains Movie Converter from sourceforge.

however, PD14 will be just fine! even with driver version 390.65. ^^

It doesn't work anymore in PD18, I have tried it on my older laptop with Fermi gen nVidia card.

However, the OP's GTX760 is kepler based, GK104, so it has some degree of NVENC (only H.264 (AVCHD) YUV 4:2:0, no H.265).
The GTX 960 on the other hand, has an NVENC capable up to H.265 (HEVC) 4K YUV 4:2:0.

Wow PepsiMan and SoNic67 that is a lot of geek talk that does not connect in my non-geek brain.

What I gather is that my GTX 760 video card is no good with H.265 HEVC. Sooooo ... if on wednesday my computer is up and running again with Wx and YouTube does not stall anymore, I have a good machine that is capable of doing editing in PD18 and rendering in H.265 HEVC, except for the video card.

If my pc is working fine again I am willing to invest in a new (second hand) video card. Because a new video card is cheaper than a € 1.600 laptop. Being self employed I would rather go the cheap route in these trying Corona times. If I need to get a new (second hand) video card which one should I get to get a (very) good performance out of my pc with pd18 and H.265 HEVC and be somewhat future proof.

Hi PepsiMan,

Thanks for the recommendations.

If I stick with the pc when it has had it's update and the issues are solved, I should be able to pick up a second hand GTX 1060 6gb for somewhere around € 150.

If I do need to get a new machine this is what I think of getting:

The cpu Passmark scores are lower than what is posted 3 weeks ago for the same cpu's Older i7's lose as much as 3000 from the original score. The testing have changed. Check your own cpu pasmark from the last time you looked it up.

Remember this post on March 6, 2020: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/81652.page#336067 . The i5-7200u scored 3741. Today it is 3408 for a decrease of 333 points.

The e5-2690v3 scored 18010. Today it is 15468 for a decrease of 2542 points. This is a decrease of 3532 points from Sonic's previous sighting.

High end Intel processors lost the most points two weeks ago. The tests were updated and seem to favor high end AMD cpu's for now. The Intel high end, like the i9 seem to have lost a lot of points. Maybe a user that purchased and run the passmark benchmarking software can shed more light on the tests for cpu scores

I have retested my dual E5-2667 V2, now is 21,209. Lost like 10%... it's all good as long as we are using the same baseline (V10 for now).

Quote Interesting. Do you remember when the Passmark Rating Test 10.0 was released, like maybe 2 weeks ago...

They went through like 4 beta periods starting last Oct and latest release was officially pushed out like first week in March. CPU stats will be somewhat erratic for a while as they are blending old results and new until enough samples for V10 test. When the dust settles, for most platforms belief is like 10% difference or so. They updated compilers, instruction sets, AVX, compression tests,...... a major overhaul.

People quoting GPU stats still of virtually no value for how PD uses GPU.

It's definitely the new 10.0 test, which has a Modified Date attribute of Mar 16, 2020. I ran these two tests one before and one right after upgrading the app, and I noticed that there's a lot more emphasis on GPU testing during the benchmarking.

It certainly looks like Turing cards are the real winners in the new testing realm, as my system score is actually 241 points higher even though my CPU score dropped almost 1300 points

Hi Guys,

The topic has engendered much worthwhile discussion, although it seems to have strayed from the original heading a little.

It is now 4 pages and 70+ answers so it may be becoming a little cumbersome to navigate and follow?

Would it be best to finish this one and link to a new topic focusing on the harware issues identified?

If so we can lock the Topic, include a link to any new topic and take it from there?

Cheers
PowerDirector Moderator.

Hi PepsiMan,

I had my computer updated. Next my data drive crashed. Now everything is fixed again including a GTX 1060 card. Only problem now is that my pc does not see my external drives. We'll get that fixed in the next couple of days.

In the mean time I'll have a look at your new tutorial,
