Combining clips revisited

Hi,
I've noted that this issue has been raised before. My problem is related, but simpler, I would think.
Basically, what I'm after is to remove a portion of a clip. I split and trim. But when I want to combine the two trimmed clips into one clip again (for chapter setting purposes, actually), I fail to see how I can do that. One would have expected something like selecting the two adjacent clips and ask for a join - or something to that effect.

Anyone?

Hauge,
That's exactly what I wanted, even without any previous editing input, if only to simplify what I'm looking at. I wonder though, if asking for too much might give us a crash-prone product. With that in mind, wouldn't a second pip track be cool................

so I'm a very new newbee & I don't get it. I simply want to look at a clip, cut something out and then join (perhaps in a different order) the clips that are now two rather than one. Seems fundamental--but i can't see how to do it.
