PowerDVD 19 Not Working on New Dell Laptop

I just bought a new Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop. I bought Power19 Ultra with it. I pluggeed in my Digistor external USB BluRay drive (which I also use with PowerDVD 15 on an older Dell XPS 8900 desktop with no problem). If l play a DVD with the laptop, PowerDVD 19 works fine. But if I load in a BluRay disc and hit play, I get the usual "Loading BluRay Disc" message, but then it disappears and I'm left with the main screen and the Play button again. No error messages. This happens also if I attempt to open a BD movie folder on the hard drive or an ISO image of a BluRay disc.

Any ideas on what's going on? Two hours with Dell Support yielded only a suggestion to contact Cyberlink. Any help appreciated.
