I'm copying old VHS tapes to DVD but the aspect ratio is confusing me. Here's what I've done:-
1) The original tapes are 4:3.
2) I've captured the tapes in 16:9 (a limitation of my USB recorder)
3) I've imported the clips into PD18 to a 16:9 project (as they'll be going to a DVD which will be played on a 16:9 TV)
The clips fill the screen but are stretched with no black borders either on the side or top or bottom.
How do I make them 4:3 with black borders either side?
I've tried the power tools -> crop/zoom/pan option but it doesn't seem to alter the size of the video, only the viewing frame. I know I can do it in the PIP designer but there's no definite size to work to and at the moment I'm kind of guessing what size to make the video.
