I have an hp laptop with an hp webcam that uses youcam software. The free version that is on hp's website is youcam 5, but the lastest version is youcam 8.

There is an option to get youcam 8 as either a new or an upgrade purchase. My question is, for a first time buyer like me, what option applies to me?

If you click on the upgrade option and follow through you can then see that you must have versions 6 or 7 to qualify for the upgrade discount of about $15. Version 5 is too old and does not qualify. You need to buy as a New User.

upgrade purchase is cheaper than new purchase.
so, upgrade is best.
