Hi.. I've mentioned before about getting messages that say only half of the free space is available on a blank DVD when I wanted to burn a video to a ddouble density DVD. I can work around this by splitting the video in two and burning to two 4.7GB DVDs.

But now I'm getting a WORSE message. When in "Program" and I try to make an AVI, MPEG, or similar file and save it directly to a new external hard drive rather than to the default "17" directory of Powerlink 17, it will do about 5% of the creation and an "NOT ENOUGH ROOM on STORAGE DRIVE" message pops up and the writitng stops. It's a brand new 1TB external drive (I've tried two new 1TB external drives that work with other programs), and the target directory is listed in the directory space AS THE NEW EXTERNAL drive. Something in your programs is reading the memory content of DVDs and hard drives incorrectly.

Please reply... I want to be able to have my created AVI files saved directly to a drive other than my C: drive. Again, the destination drive reads where I want it to go, but something triggers the creating to stop if not your default target location.

Thank you,
cuzzzzz

To be clear, this is a user forum, and every question you've asked in the previous 3 threads was answered by a fellow PD user. Nobody from Cyberlink will typically see these posts.

As for your drive space issue, could you take a screenshot of what the Produce room screen looks like right before you click Start? It would help to see the folder name and the pie charts. You can attach the image here using this button under the forum text box:

It might be even better if you used Screen Recorder to capture what happens when the error message comes up, then uploaded the clip to YouTube or Google Drive and pasted teh link to it here.

Hi, thanks for reply. In my original post, I meant to use "When I'm in Produce", not "when I'm in Program", which you picked up. I tried again with a real small video and it worked ccorrectly, but I noticed that this time the name of my file was included, but my earlier tries had only the drive letter (K. I'l try again with a larger file and see what happens. If problem persists I'll send a screen shot, but may have been my error. I wish you could select a target drive for saving and have it stay as the new default location.

Thank you again.

If you set it in pref > File the Export Folder it should typically stay until you change it.

Just be careful if an external drive and you have multiple devices periodically attached. If you have not hard set the drive letter the letter can revolve depending on several factors.

Jeff thanks.. that answered my question. And especially thanks for the warning.. I do need to switch the external drive once in a while.

Jeff, with you being so knowledeable (I just bought PD17 this month) may I ask you one last question? What are these PP_motion.tmp files and may I delete them and cause no damage to a project?

And I did change the target drive through preferences.. thanks again.

Thank you

What is the full path that they are in? One way they get generated is a fail and/or crash while doing a "Create Disc" operation, if so, they can be removed.

Yes, thank you. There have been a few fails during disc creations. I deleted them and it hasen't caused a problem runnning the program. Also, glad you mentioned the Preference menu... have learned (and changed) a lot in it.

Thanks again, you've been a great help.
