Voice over trouble

I am having trouble using the voice over, it's a hit and miss. Sometimes it records, sometimes it doesn't.

I wonder if something is wrong with the Powerdirector 17 software.

Appreciate inputs from the experts here.

What happens when it doesn't?

Does it appear to record but you get a blank audio clip?

Does the program shut down?

Does clicking the record button do nothing?
