The whole 60i thing is pretty old, and 30p is in the same boat. I have some 4k in my niche cameras (drone, 360 and action/wide field) but my main cams are an HD 60p and 2 HD 30p. At some point fairly soon, a 4k main cam will be in my sights.

Until we upgrade, though, we'll just have to try and age gracefully...

There are a lot of users that insist on shooting and producing at 24 fps. They like the film look even now and the higher frame rate is reserved only for slow motion. You see a lot of those tutorials on YouTube for the pros using say Adobe. I would not say 60i or 30p is obsolete. The lower price Canon dslr can only do 1080/30p. You have to pay more to get the 4K ones.

On the other hand my Samsung Galaxy S10 can do video at 2160p@60fps, 1080p@240fps, 720p@960fps, HDR... With three different focal lenght lenses and optical stabilization.

I guess... it all depends of the target audience. What display they have to play back those videos onto.

Sure, my i-phone can do better, of course without the nice lenses. I just feel Full HD60i is now passe, I might as well be chiseling images on a clay tablet. It's all fine until I need to zoom or stabilize and the image just begins to degrade. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Again... depends of what's your audience. 1080p is all you need in a lot of houses in my family. I think that me and my son are the only ones with 4K large screens (4K on a 6" smartphone screen is just for bragging rights).

Also, if you post on youtube, I don't think that there is a lot of material that needs to be 4K.

I was a television director for 16 years, and a technical director for 10 years before that. In my experience, people are always chasing the ever changing technology. In my era, we went from 2 inch vtr, to 1 inch vtr, to Beta sp, to digi Beta, and then to Avid and the fully digital offerings. These days, domestically, I shoot MPEG 4 1920 X 1080 at 30fps, and I'm perfectly happy with it. The folks fixating on 4K now, will soon be chasing 8K......and then whatever comes after that.......and so the game goes on. My advice is to focus less on the technology and more on what you do creatively.
