New update not installing correctly / System randomly rebooting / rollback possible?
[Post New]
Oh man...
I fired PD up today and steam automatically updated the app.

MY SYSTEM IS NOW RANDOMLY REBOOTING.
The cpu isnt hot, its never done this before, and it only does this with PD. I have tried to force it to to this with a number of CPU intense games and cant make it do what PD does.

I am in the middle of a project with a deadline and having 1/2 a panic attack over this.
I cannot do any work.
Can I roll back to the previous version so that I can do some work?

Any assistance profoundly appreciated.
I got PD thru Steam BTW

[edit] Just ran integrity check and it is now downloading 6GB... fingers crossed[/edit]

Thanks, Jake

It might be helpful to know your operating system, which processor you have with how much RAM and how much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive.

Hi, thanks for any help

SUMMARY:
Its seems that my PD update is not performing properly, performing file integrity checks (steam) show large amounts of files missing, so
steam redownloads, reinstalls, and its the same everytime = 100,000+ files "fail to validate" and if the software is run with the damaged files, the system reboots constantly.

STEPS TAKEN/SYMPTOMS:

  1. Fire up PD = "performing first time setup"
    2. I let it go thru its paces, fire up PD again = all KBD custom
shortcuts are gone and for whatever reason it needs to regenerate
shadow files. I let that happen for about 45 min and start working
    on the project.
    3. Once installed everything is much slower as if having trouble
    accessing full disk bandwidth.
    4. REBOOT - Things are now going at full speed, but 10 min into
editing, then SCREEN GOES BLACK, my computer shows the POST screen
    and restarts.
    5. Perform file integrity check thru steam app (100,000+ files fail
to validate, so steam starts automatically downloading 6+GB of
    updates.
    6. INSTALL/fire up > same frequent and random reboots.
    7. Run File Integrity check again = 100,000+ files fail to validate.
    8. Complete uninstall/reinstall (thru steam)
    9. Integrity Check = again 100,000+ files fail to validate.

NOTES:
This software was ROCK SOLID on this system until the update.
System was not hot.

Did you remember to turn off your antivirus when you installed the update? .

I guess the 5th/6th time was the charm.
Verified correctly and has been working again for a couple of hours without the reboot problem.

I have no idea whatsoever what fixed this, and that is the most troubling part.
I have been dead in the water and troubleshooting/waiting for downloads & installs for about 6 hours due to this BS.
There seems to be no way to turn off auto updating on steam, so I guess it could happen again with the next update.
That stinks.

Anyway, thanks for your help guys.

The problems you're experiencing aren't typical, and it sounds like you might need to open a support request with Cyberlink or maybe see if there's anyone at Steam that can help.

I don't know how many Steam users are on here, but I imagine there's a support link in your purchase confirmation email.
