SGX will not install

I recently upgraded my computer to an ASUS Prime Z390-A motherboard with an Intel I7-9700, a Nvidia GTX-970 video card and a 28" 4K monitor. I tried to play a 4K Blu-Ray and got the 21201 error when it tried to install SGX. I checked the BIOS and "Controlled By Software" was the only option for SGX. Does this mean I'm SOL playing 4K Blu-Ray or is there a work around?

4k blu-ray are not supported via nvidia gpu. It is not possible to play the 4k blu-ray with powerdvd if you don't have a compatible intel graphics output, which fully supports hdcp 2.2.

Can you recommend a reasonably priced graphics card that meets these requirements?

The Intel graphics core is inside the Intel CPU, and the motherboard's display output must support the HDCP 2.2, which is set for Intel graphics. There is not a discrete Intel GPU that you can install it independently.

I suggest you ask your PC vendor directly considering the above requirements.

The ASUS Prime Z390-A has integrated Intel 630HD graphics, so you can use that to play UHD discs without the need for an external graphics card.

Note - If you need to play 4k@60fps, then you'll need to use the displayport, as the HDMI port is only v1.4 and will not support 4k@60. There are displayport->HDMI adapters available that you can plug into the displayport at the bck of your motherboard and connect your HDMI cable to the adapter to get 4k@60fps.

I tried taking my graphic card out and using the integrated graphics of the Prime Z390-A and a Display Port cable connected to my 4K monitor and still got the error message saying system does not support SGX or it is disabled. In the Z390-A BIOS it says SGX is software supported.

Did u enable SGX in your BIOS? I have a MSI board with the same chipset and I needed to enable SGX in the BIOS. Secondly, are you sure your monitor is HDCP 2.2 compliant?

Try sending Cyberlink support an email. I think you could be running into a Powerdvd bug.

I tried to report the probem to Cyberlink but it had a dropdown to select the type of problem, but it didn't matter which I selcted it kept coming up with an error saying I had to select one.

Try a different computer browser. I logged a ticket with them today for an issue I have and it worked fine for me.

I don't think it is a simple 4K 60 capability case.

Even though the motherboard has the displayport to do 4k 60, does this port include HDCP 2.2 support for the video output?
That's what you might have to find out with the motherboard manufacturer, and HDCP 2.2 is required for Ultra HD Blu-ray.
