The comparison feature chart does not include it. And I did not find it in my download. Smart Sound does not appear anywhere in the PDF documentation for PowerDirector 17. So I believe your assumption is correct.

For those who do not speak French...the last several versions of PD have not included SmartSound as the companies have parted ways.
The good news is you can go to the SmartSound website and download the necessary bits and pieces to install it. I’m not at my machine at the moment but I suspect the situation continues in v17. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Hello,

As Barry mentioned, SmartSound has not been available in PowerDirector for at least two versions now.

However, PowerDirector 17 has included a new audio file/music for videos source is seems called Audio Network. You can view the details here:

I can confirm that Smartsound works in PD17. So if Magic Music is installed on your system it will function as expected.
If you never had SS/MM on your system you can still download the files for the module from Smartsound and it will integrate with PD. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Indeed it does! To access the SS music selection tool from PD16/17, just click on Plugins, Media and choose SmartSound Quicktracks. As long as you had installed it with PD15 or earlier (and haven't since uninstalled it), no download or other configuration needed
