Muting A Section Of Audio

Was wondering if there was a way to either mute or overdub a section of audio without making markers on the audio and dragging them down ? It's been a while since I used this. Started making movies again. Still cannot get the transitions to stay on the timeline if I drag them down either. Ugh. Win 10 64bit

You could use splits to isolate that portion of the clip and the Right mouse click and choose Mute clip.
