Video Crop - Maintain Ratio Frustration

I'm trying to crop a video without maintaining the ratios. I want to use just a portion of video. Whenever I use the video crop tool, hover over one of the corner squares, move-in... the entire video adjust (maintaining the aspect ratio). I don't want this. I want to crop-out 75% of the video. Any ideas on how to do this or a work around? This can be done with photos using the "freeform" option under the "Modify" tab. Please help.

You did not say which version of PD you have. Double click on the video clip to open the PiP designer. Move the white balls on the corners outward to enlarge or zoom in on the video. Click on the center of the video to drag it to the position you want.

It may be easier for you to do this if you set the PiP preview screen from Fit to say 75%. Uncheck the maintain aspect ratio in Object Settings if you want.

I have PD 10. I tried your idea. It didn't work. Zooming helps but I still need to crop out parts of the image and then resize it. I've attached a screenshot of the issue. As you can see I need to crop out the black bars on the sides of the video. I am putting multiple small figures of the same person dancing on the same screen.

I don’t have PD10. Someone else may be able to help. There will be no black bars on the sides on the video if you have and use a background image or video (on track 1) after you use the chroma key. The black background simply means that the background is transparent in the preview screen.

If I get it right, you want to crop part of the image.
In PD16 the Crop / Zoom tool has the Freform option, in PD10 it does not.
I think you can do this by using Pip Desingner, using the mask.
Uncheck the box, Maintain mask aspect ratio
See the picture.
