Why won't PD recoginze my JVC videocam to capture video?

I have JVC Everio HDD video cam. When I hook it up to my PC, the PC recognizes it but PowerDirector does not. I have to capture the video with Windows but would rather capture thru PD. Can someone let me know if they have had the same problem and/or how to correct it?

Why capture? If it is a hard drive camcorder, simply COPY the video to a folder on your computer. Saves time and quality? .
