I was having issues with 4 and just this last week went and paid the money for 5 premium. I get to the point where I BURN and it gets to about 10% and thats all she wrote...the program crashes, or freezes, and a couple times I have gotten error messages. My computer can handle the program, I am capable of "handling" the program...I am just sick of it and worried I have wasted the money. I have spent 2 days now trying to make one "trial DVD" of my own, just to see what 5 can and can not do, and so far I find it can NOT burn......it creates thumbnails, and thats where it stops....hours and hours of my time have shown nothing but bald patches in my head.
lol
thats my opinion and I am sticking to it!

I just went back months and months ago in the forum topics and found the FIX dll's zipfile, I have downloaded and replaced, crossing my fingers I will check it out later

Jennifer,

I think you've hit a hair pulling screaming moment........
What build version of PowerDirector 5 Premium have you? Look in Help/about please.
The dll files...ummm shouldn't have been applied.
De frag your hard drive, Untick video in thumbnails, test by Create to a Folder.....
What Disc writing software do you have?
Have you contacted Tech Support?

I don't have any of the problems you have... so I'm looking at the way you're operating, the placement of video files, the PC itself.... how you've constructed the disc instructions. If you want to logically find a solution you need to write down every action and every inclusion and see if it is repeatable by someone else.

i have no idea what build I am using, I will look into that, as far as the other suggestions, I have done them all, unticked thumbnails, defragged, and contacted custumer support. Thee dll files is a patch for the error message 80004001, that I am still getting after the install.
Disc writing program? I use MEMOREX DUAL+FORMAT recorder double layer. 8.5 GB capacity. it burns my power producer software just fine, and also the previos PD videos I had with the older software.
Not sure what you mean by disc instructions....when I go to create disc...I have done all conceivable wyas, write to dvd folder, untick dvdfolder....unticked the menu items, you name it I have done it. At this point it still gives me the error code 80004001, burning failed. I was able to burn a small dvd with the trial version of PP I needed at Christmas for a project I was diong(thats when I realized I had lost my original discs) but for some reason this is not cooperating. I am awaiting tech supports answer. They were actually very quick at helping me with the dolby digital issue I had with 4, and is why I bought 5....
I do love the software I was used to that came with my camera, and if I knew exactly what it was I would try to buy it again, I have so much money in this 5 and 4 and I even am awaiting the arrival of 3 in the mail this week, that I purchased before I did the 5....I am desperate to have a program work to my needs, and all I need, lol is it to burn.
I wish I could tell you more of what I am doing, but really, I am doing my timeline...create disc.....and it goes to BURN PROCESS and errors out.
I am not STUPID, actually very capable with software programs, this one happens to be kicking my butt, and it shouldn't be so difficult, right!
Thanks for any help or suggestins may be able to offer, at this point however, I have done all that was mentioned, as I did read other posts, and the unticking I got from a member who solved the problem by disabling the motion menu option...that unfortunately is not working for me, or did the zip file of replaired dll files.

c drive 32.5gb capacity 18.3gb free
k drive(extra HD) 149gb 124gb free

Jennifer,

You appear to have tried a lot of things... didn't see uninstall/reinstall amongst all that. I want you to "tick the box" and follow the procedure laid out in the text file.... no messing, do it. See attached uninstall instructions.

I want you to check (even shorten them) the location of the files you are using in the video and the naming of the files used. They should be close to My Works and not straggled around your computers Hard Drive. I want you to check your Hard Drives read capability. I want you to have your video, image files on the same drive as your software. I'm trying...thinking anything.

I want you to write down each action you have carried out..name (address to it) each file added, the number of transitions and which ones. What in the Create to Disc options did you select. At the moment you have provided a lot of basic data but NOT on the actions you have done on the Time-line information or the creative data you've used anywhere.

To understand software you have to be logical and analysis the actions you are taking. If everyone of us had a problem like yours, we all would be screaming...but we don't. So it's something on your system...even a corrupted download of the file could be causing the problem.

IF you provide the data requested in bullet point style (1,2,3,4 etc) it is a lot easier to understand and read! I will refer your posting, data etc and get it to whom it matters. Please note the info has to be presented in a quick understandable manner.

I also want you to provide a DxDiag.txt file

Start/Run? type in DxDiag Click OK
Save the information as a Text file and attach it to your next posting.

Okay, I have something else I now need to do....

well, not exactly sure what did the trick, but after a uninstall and reinstall a trial run of making a dvd of the aquarium was a success, which had never been before, went next to making the dvd of my movie and well it seems to be working cause it got 30% but I had to end it, was taking too long and I have other things I had to do with my computer, so will redo it again tonight when I am done with my notary work. It sure is a slow one compared to the other one, lol but hey if it burns I am a happy camper.
I got PP2Gold today in the mail as well, tomorrow or WED my PD3 should be here, I will have a full library of Cyberlink products. I swear I have spent so much money this last week, and in the end it looks like 5 is all I needed, since my power producer express is also working fine now....geeeeez.
Thanks for the thought to uninstall, I had thought of it, but figured what really would an uninstall do...guess fixed whatever bug was wrong.
Your quick response and help is much appreciated!
I have attached the DxDig though just in case it can still be of some help, I have no idea what it all means, but it was neat to see..
I did write down exactly what I did, but considering it is working, figure there is no reason to go play by play!
I have to do a music video tonight for my daughters high school drama class, I got this fixed just in time, thanks to you!!!

Jennifer,

I'm really pleased...... brill.

Here are some "words of wisdom"...... well sort of .... you might not want to read.

DO NOT install PowerDirector 3
DO NOT install PowerProducer 2 Gold

You will muck up your system if you do. PD3 is old tech and WILL NOT read /see...your mod files. All it will do is uninstall PD5P and cause you more aggro!
PP2Gold isn't needed.
You know that spend, spend...oh dear ... moment... Ummm think you've just got there.

Hi,

I'm glad you've followed the information previously posted. Let's now look at getting some data first of all from you and then see what action needs to be carried out. I'd better add that I don't consider myself to be Tech Support for anyone...and I expect someone with a software problem to contact Tech Support first.

What build version of PowerDirector 5 Premium do you have? Look in Help/About

See the above instructions and attach a DxDiag.txt file to your next posting.

The project you cant burn...I guess you've saved it as a pds file - have you?

Thankyou so much
I do have a call into tech Your patient answer seemed so helpful that I thought i would try
Build is 500.1816
yes project is saved as pds
DixDiag i am not sure where to get this file I have tried logically to think what this may be Most of the time I think i am over my head
I did get in touch with DivXsupport They suggested that I uninstall Divx so I ununstalled DivX codec only
I orginally had the following Cyberlink programs installed as a bundle with an external LG DVD Writer solution The bundle included Power Dvd Power Producer Gold Nero Express, In Cd ,Acrobat Reader
I updated Power DVD to 7, Acrobat to 8 and,Nero to Nero Startsmartand uninstalled pwer producer Gold
I am not sure how I got DivX but it shows as abundle with DixV Player, content reader, converter, webplayerand I uninstalled codec
Sounds like quite a jumble
Thanks for help

Hi Donna,

Thank you for the information. Some of the action you have taken weren't needed and would affect PowerDirector's capabilities to function. Telling me of the version build was important and I will refer your case. I need some additional information which I will PM to you.

There was no need to uninstall DivX capability. It is a rendering function used by PowerDirector 5 Premium to produce a type of avi file. I will get you to restore it shortly.

DxDiag.txt file is an information file produced by you after you have followed a simple procedure. The information it contains is useful for Tech Support. Giving what you have on your system etc.

To create a DX Diag.txt file:
1. Go to Start - Click on it and in the display
2. Look for "Run" and Click on it.
3. Write in the popup - DxDiag
4. Click OK
5. DirectX Diagnostic Tool will display
6. Click "Save All Information"
7. Save it as DxDiag.txt (the default name anyway) - On your Desktop
8. Next go to the Forum... and then attach it to a posting.

I want you to Uninstall and Re-Install PowerDirector - follow the instructions. This will put DivX back on your PC.

I'll now write and send you a PM

Dafydd
