Hi,
I have trimmed down a project and now want to further trim it. The only way I can do it is to produce the first trimmed version as a final video which I wouldn't like to do. Any advise?

Tried to save a copy of the project and then open that copy and keep working but still, when I go to 'trim' function I get the whole raw video whilst I only want the version I've already modified to further trim.

Hi Beni,

I don't use trim or multitrim a great deal but as I understand it trimming marks in and out points whilst always retaining the original clip.

The alternative is to split the clip at the appropriate points, deleting the unwanted sections and saving the project with the split clips only.

I'm not sure you can have it both ways?

Cheers

Maybe I’m misinterpreting your question.

But if you loaded your clips into the timeline/s, and over time, made your edits the way you initially wanted them, and then did a… “saved as” to a pds file, every time you open that particular pds file, your project will open just the way you left it. (assuming you’ve properly saved everything)
And of course, you can produce that edit to a Mpeg2, or Avi, or WMV, etc file anytime you want.

But if then later, you decide you’d like to do additional experimenting with that last edit, but you also want to insure (or is it assure?), that it's saved in it’s current state, a simple way is to make a copy of that last saved pds, and work from the copy. That way the project will open in the same state as when you last were working on it, and you run no risk of disturbing the original.
Once you’ve made your new edits, save that to another pds with a different name that the original pds. Now you have two pds files of a different edit of your project. Then produce a Mpeg2, or whatever of this second version for archiving or create a DVD folder, or etc etc etc, just like you did with the original.
And if you now go and open the original pds, everything will be just as it was before you started experimenting with this new edit.

Or am I missing something here with respect to what you’re trying to do? If I am, sorry.

Thank you all. The 'split' idea worked just fine for me.
Now here is another one:
I have a project and I want to produce a video twice: once in full length and one with onely half the scenes. How do I split the project and produce only half without loosing the remaining already editted scenes?
Thanks

I think your question is answered Beni - just what Cranston said. I also answered it the other topic you started. Same question. Same answer.

Cheers -
