re-using titles among multiple projects
[Post New]
I need to create about 30 or so projects which consist of kids skiing mogul competitions, one for each kid. There are a total of about 10 competitions, each of which I would like to create a title for (i.e. 10 titles for each project)

Needless to say, these exact same 10 titles will need to be re-used for each project. Is there a way to save all 10 of them somehow, and just pull them into each project so I don't have to recreate the exact same titles for each project?

Thanks

Hi Jeff -

Why not simply create a (sort of) blank project with the title and any other media files common to each project and use Save As.

Start off with something like "SkiComp", containing the common files... then save as to make "SkiComp_Dafyddus", "SkiComp_Adrianana", "SkiComp_Roberto", "SkiComp_BillyBob" etc.

Then import the appropriate files into each project...

That's what I'd do anyway.

Cheers -

Tony

thats sort of what I ws thinking if doing also, but the only problem I could see was using those saved projects as true titles (where they overlay the video) instead of the default video (where they would precede each clip) - see what I mean? Or maybe I just don't know how to use video as titles?

Hi Jeff
You can save your modified title as a new title which will then become a favourite. Also in the titles room you can filter all the templates so only favourites show up.

OIC!

Sorry Jeff. I misunderstood. I was just thinking of opening titles and credits.

pjc's advice is good - save the titles you want to use as templates...

Or - why not combine both ideas above. Make your master with all the titles, then save as (blah, blah, blah) - then import the right clips into each project. The titles might need to be modified or moved, but that would save a fair bit of time.

Tony

pjc - thanks for the help. Question: How exactly do I save my modified title as a new title?

Thanks in advance, Jeff

never mind - I figured it out. Right click, then "modify template"

follow up question:

How do I modify the default duration of each of these custom titles I've created? Its a PIA to have to modify the duration from 10 seconds to 5 seconds each time I use one of them...

As usual, thanks in advance.

Set the default duration of titles (and other things) in "Preferences"

Alt+C>editing (third tab from left)>durations (lower half of window)
