how to get rid of stupid Moovie live screen

Okay this is annoying. I really don't want to see the darn Moovielive.com image/ad every time I launch the app. I don't want to register and I don't, for now, plan to use it. I hate intrusive stuff like this that insists on pushing itself. How do I set PowerDVD9 so it doesn't constantly replace the main screen with the screen trying to push me to sign up for moovielive. I honestly don't care what other PowerDVD ppl watch, no offense, I just want a nice clean interface

Same here, I won't be buying any future PowerDVD versions with how annoying MoovieLive is.

Well wrote to TS asking them and they say its not removable in version 9. This is a very bad decision on their part in my opinion. Guess I'm going to go back to using WinDVD9 now that corel up my activations.

Putting in such an intrusive thing with no way to eliminate it is very bad policy in my book. I can understand making it an option for those that want it but to push it on everyone with no choice to get rid of it, UGH

I too dislike the fact that this can't be disabled.

One possible idea is to block the website that it attempts to connect to in your firewall program. *Perhaps* if the program thinks it cannot gain access to the Moovie Live site, it will not display the prompt.

Just an idea, havn't got time to check it just now but may be of some help to anyone who knows more about it.

Totally agree with you guys...

I will stop using PowerDVD until this stupid MoovieLive screen will be removed... and I'll use TotalMedia Theater in the meantime...

If you look around it IS disableable in version 9, I figured out how about a week ago, and I mean completely gone, outside of 2 or 3 greyed out menu buttons the settings menu doesn't even appear in the PowerDVD settings menu.

2 ways of doing it.

Go thru the registry and set eveyrthing related to it in 3 or 4 different sections to 0, or find a batch file on the net that does all the settings for you.

Works perfectly now.

I solved it diffrently I just got Corel to grant me more activations and then went back to WinDVD9 Plus. That fixed the whole Moovie crap problem as well hehe

Here's what I did and it worked pretty well.

In windows explorer find your "hosts" file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Right click and select properties and make sure "read only" is unchecked.

Open the "hosts" file in notepad and add the following line (without quotes)

"127.0.0.1 www.moovielive.com"

Save the file.

This blocks access to moovielive.com so when you launch PowerDVD, it will be much cleaner. You may still get that silly girl grinning at you, but you won't get the e-mail sign-in box, or the DVD thumbnail pictures.

Be advised, however, that your browsers won't be able to access moovielive.com either.

Thanks Airport!
Great idea. I was pretty upset about being "forced" into dealing with MoovieLive also. I don't understand what they are thinking not allowing you to disable it. I would have gotten rid of the software actually, but I have the remote for Cyberlink, which I like. I hope they allow you to disable it in the next version or in a patch.

@Airport - Thank you very much! No offense to the folks that may enjoy that feature, but I just wanted to disable it. I didn't want to sign in, and I didn't want to be asked to rate a movie every time I stopped play. I unchecked the ratings screen in settings, and still got that screen! Your suggestion worked like a charm, and I hope Cyberlink figures out that not EVERYONE wants that by default. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Thanks Randy! CL really should offer a way to disable this "feature" in PDVD. I don't like it and find it annoying. I don't care what others think about the movies I watch nor do I care about what they watch. And I use CATVids to catalog my movies. MoovieLive is just a waste of resources for me. I'm sure there are others that like it and use it - that's fine. Just give the rest of us that don't like it the option to EASILY turn it off!
