I have a HD Camcorder Samsung H104
It writes to internal SSD memory in MP4.H264 format.

I am confused as to which product is best for me, director or producer

More important what are the main differences between the 2 products.

The files my camera creates have MP4 extension and I have had difficulty reading these files with other software but the trial versions from Cyberlink have been good at reading my files. Now I want to create projects to view my movies on my PC but I also want tocreate AVCHD discs on DVD discs to play in my Blue Ray machine that is AVCHD compatible

Hi Martin -

I haven't used PowerProducer, but you can read about it here... http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerproducer/overview_en_US.html

It seems like it would do the job for you, but one of the more experienced members (eg. our tireless moderator) would be able to advise you more accurately.

My understanding is that PowerDirector is more focussed on video editing... though I think PD7 Ultra (if you want to make BlueRay discs) would meet your needs.

Cheers -

Tony

Both programs have their specific uses. If you plan on doing any serious amount of editing you will need Power Director. You can do some editing with Power Producer, but it is much more limited. I have an old version of Power Producer and I never actually use it. Power Directer will edit and do basic menu design with disk authoring, but the menu design and authoring part is more limited. And just confirming PD can produce AVCHD hybrid discs up to 8.5 Gb DL (about 1 hr of 1080i) which play on compatible players (though I can only personally vouch for PS3).
