Just got a new computer (Windows XP professional, quad-core, Nvidia Geforce 9800GT graphics card, etc. etc). My older computer has Windows Media Center and is just, well, older . . .
However, I can't capture analog video into my new computer. My digital video via a firewire imports just fine, but I can't import VHS or High8 tapes using Pinnacle's USB movie box as my digtial converter. I've downloaded the latest drivers from their site.
Using my old computer, I don't have a problem capturing these same files. When capturing with my old computer, the TV box is highlighted (new computer it is not highlighted) and that seems to be the only difference.
I contacted my computer hardware guy and he mentioned "codecs". I've heard them mentioned on this forum before, but have not paid very much attention to it since until this point, I've had no problems capturing video.
Is there something additional I need to download or add to this computer so that I can capture analog video? I tried capturing through windows movie maker, but I couldn't get any sound.
Help!
