With Power Director 13 I did some tests using presets to check the gain with different compressions:
The original file is 1 minute AVC .MTS 1920x1080 50i Bit rate 16Mbs and occupies 117MB.

I saved it in AVI 720x576 became 206 MB

in H264 M2TS 1920x1080 50i 16Mbs became 113 MB
in H264 MP4 1920x1080 25P 16Mbs became 105 MB

in H265 M2TS 1920x1080 50P 19Mbs became 119 MB
in H265 MP4 1920x1080 25P 11Mbs became 63 MB

I wonder if these data are reliable. Frankly I expected a significant reduction of the original megabayt.
Or do I miss something? I thank those who can clarify me.

Glad that you corrected the test for h.265 1080p 11Mbps. It looks and is correct now. The actual file size for a constant Video Bitrate of 16 Mbps is 120 MB. That does not include audio.

See this post by Tony. He ran the same test for h.264. It compares favorably with your test results: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/66045.page#300976 . You are good to go.

Edit: I noticed that both you and Tony did not state if the test was done with cpu or gpu encoding. It looks like cpu encoding to me as gpu encoding produces lower bit rates for me using intel and amd in the past and for at least two nvidia card users in this forum.

For tomasc,

I am not able to know if the coding was done by the Cpu or the GPU.

I do not know how to operate. But is it important? W 10 64 , pc Dell XPS 8000 - core i7 2,8 GHz--ram 6 MB--GEFORCE GTX 1050TI 4GB - SSD 256 + 2x630--area Pal

I do not see anything wrong with your test.
The conversion (50 i) to (25 p)
Video Interlaced to Progressive
In practice 25 fps to 25 fps

The conversion (50p) to (30p) is half.
Progressive Progressive Video
In practice 50 fps to 25 fps

I saved on AVI 720x576 became 206 MB
It is because the bit rate is very large (25 Mbps)

Use H.264 AVC or Windows Media to create small files.
You can create Profiles to suit your purpose.

x PlaySound, thanks for the info.

I'm looking for a way to send a small 16x9 video with a few MB and acceptable quality via e-mail in Australia (PAL system).

Some advice is welcome. Thank you W 10 64 , pc Dell XPS 8000 - core i7 2,8 GHz--ram 6 MB--GEFORCE GTX 1050TI 4GB - SSD 256 + 2x630--area Pal

To reduce file size I know 2 ways.
Reduce resolution and or bit rate
1 and 2 profile examples, I used M2TS because it has the Interlace mode which is the default of the original video.
3 Even lower resolution to view on smartphone, file will look very small.

H.264 AVC - M2TS
1920 x 1080 resolution
Top filed fisrt
3000 bit rate
1 minute = 25.5 MB.
H.264 AVC - M2TS
720 x 480 resolution
Top filed fisrt
1500 bit rate
1 minute = 14.5 MB.
H.264 AVC - M2TS
320 x 240 resolution
500 bit rate
1 minute = 7.13 MB.
I used NTSC standard has little difference to the PAL standard
see image create Personal Profile

Note: If you have gmail, it allows you to send files with more than 20 mb. It offers the google drive to upload must agree and free.
