Gradient tool in layers tab not working? [SOLVED]

Going into the Preferences dialog and clicking the Reset button on "Reset all layer editing settings" fixed the problem. Not sure why it wasn't working to begin with since it was a fresh install and I hadn't changed any settings that I'm aware of. Anyway, it seems to be working fine now after reseting the layer edit setting.

Hi all,

I have to think I'm just overlooking something here. No matter what I do, I cannot get the gradient tool in the Layers tab of PhotoDirector 9 to actually do anything. I mean I can draw the line for the gradient, but it has absolutely no effect on the photo itself. I even checked the help file to make sure I was doing it right (which I was certain I was, since I've used gradients before in other software), and I was doing everything correctly. But still, I simply can't the gradient tool to work. All it does is draw the line. It doesn't actually apply any gradient.

Any suggestions? Or can anyone conform my experience that the gradient tool in the layers tab seems like it just doesn't work?

Thanks

Hello CLM,

Welcome to the PhotoDirector forum laughing

Well done on resolving your own issue! I hadn't used this feature since PhD8. After reading your post, I noticed the PhD9 interface is slightly different, with no "Style" option. I thought that may have been the problem.

The style options now appear to be built into the colour palette, & resetting preferences seems to resolve it as you've discovered.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'd never used PhotoDirector before, but yeah, while searching for answers online, I did notice the gradient type tool was missing. But as you said, those screenshots were from older versions of the program.

Thanks again!
