Hello,

This is a new thread related to the Audio wave does not display in PD16 forum thread, which is now locked. It was locked because CyberLink is aware of the issue, but that thread is not currently providing any revealing or consistent information to determine if there is an actual issue that needs attention.

I was able to duplicate the issue on my computer in PowerDirector 16, once, but no matter how hard I try, I can't consistently duplicate it. Those who are familiar with the software development process know that in order for a bug to be issued and fixed, it must be duplicated at least three times in a row consistently.

With that said, we realize that this is a big issue for some users, as the other thread illustrates. Thefore, please use this thread to report details about the specs of your computer if you can:

1. Consistently reproduce the issue, i.e. the audio waveform never displays in PDR 16.

or

2. After a period of time, the audio waveform no longer displays. This is what I duplicated once, after editing a previous project.

If you have experienced either of these two scernarios, please reply below with the following information so we can gather the information and data to pass on the CyberLink QA to assess the issue further:

1. Windows version, including whether it is the 32-bit or 64-bit version.

2. Current RAM in your computer.

3. DXDiag.txt file. This is optional, but would help immensely if you provided it. Go here to view info on generating this file.

4. Detailed steps of issue, i.e. whether it is scenario 1 or 2 in description.

5. Provide customer service ticket number, if you contacted CyberLink customer support about this issue

FYI, as stated above, this is to gather more information about this issue so please only respond if you have experienced this problem. Any replys that are complaints or similar will be removed, as we are trying to get to the bottom of the issue.

Cheers,

I have the issue, which is why I was posting in the original thread. I believe I have already posted most of what you are asking for in the now-locked thread, but I will repeat the parts that i can remember here:

  1. At least one of the failure modes is consistent and repeatable.

  2. There are some factors that contribute to a less consistent, but similar results, as discussed at length in the original thread.

and then:

1. Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)

2. 8 GB RAM

3. support already has my DXDiag file

4. detailed at length in the original thread, but basically, audio files with idential names and date/time stamps have consistently resulted in failure to render the waveform in PD16.

5. CS001854335, which was prematurely closed and CS001858275, which remains open and unanswered.

I have the same problem with PD 13. I often do not see wavwform.
Sometimes everything is OK, sometimes waveform can not be seen. Never understood the cause.
Use native files .MTS 1920 x 1080 25 fps 16 Mbsec Pal. From Panasonic videcam.
1) Windows 10 64 bit
2) 6 GB Ram
3) DxDiag attach
4) case scenario 2
5) support CS001856567

Hello,

Thank you to the two PowerDirector users that provided information about this issue.

We have been informed by CyberLink's QA testing team that they can now duplicate the issue, and it should be fixed in the next patch release that's scheduled for release next month.

This post will now be closed.

Dear All,

This issue should now be fixed after installing the latest patch update:

https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/76066.page

Can you all install it and check to see if now works?

If it doesn't let us know so we can pass on the info to technical support.

Cheers

I am still experiencing this problem (waveform not showing up) with PD16 that has the 2816 patch applied. At least in my case, it seems to be directly related to the method in which audio was encoded in the video file. The waveform does not show up for video files with MPEG Layer 2 (MP2) audio, but it does show up correctly for video files that have MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) audio.
